There is no standardized nationwide subsidy for heat pumps in Switzerland. The conditions and amount of subsidies vary from canton to canton and from municipality to municipality. They even change almost every year. We have provided you with some resources to get clarity on heat pump subsidies in Switzerland.

In principle, the funding structure for heat pumps in Switzerland can be divided into three levels: federal, cantonal and municipal.

Federal government
Officially, the federal government only provides guidelines for subsidies. However, there are national funding pools such as Energie Zukunft Schweiz or myClimate, which can replace cantonal funding.

Canton
The cantons are the primary funding bodies and each set their own conditions and approaches to funding.

Municipality

Important notes before promotion

1. subsidies only for the replacement of fossil fuels: In Switzerland, subsidies are only available if oil or gas heating systems and, depending on the canton, electric heating systems are replaced. For new builds or existing heat pumps, you are currently left empty-handed.

The privately managed institutions Energie Zukunft Schweiz and myclimate are privately managed but state-funded. They mainly promote large heat pumps with an output of over 50 kW.
